Coveritlive Virtual Guests Session

We are very lucky to have many contacts from all the successful blogging that you do. We have managed to get Tom Parmenter (Sky News Presenter/Reporter) and Alan Stevens (Public Speaking Guru) to come online at 11am to share some of their experience with us, as we prepare for our BETT 2011 presentations. We may also be lucky enough to have Mrs Skinner, Mr McSharry and Russ Sauntry online too who are all good friends of Heathfield Primary School.

The way the session will work will be as follows:

There will be two Coveritlive sessions on the go in this blog post! Pupils will be split into two groups of 6, each spending up to 30 minutes with either Alan Steven’s Coveritive or Tom Parmenter’s Coveritlive. The pupils will then swap to the other Coveritlive session so all the pupils get the chance to ask questions to both special guests. As there looks like there will be a small number of pupils in each Coveritlive session I am happy to allow the session to develop at the speed that the pupils ask and get answers to questions. If things get untidy, I SHALL step in! However, I know I can trust all of you to be sensible and wait for your answers.

    1)Always try to be yourself.

    2)Prepare your self before hand.

    3)Stay cool for the audience.

4)Don’t talk fast or it makes you sound like a nutter.

5)Try to stay calm and take a few deep breaths.

    1. Eye contact is very efective, and so is body langage.
    2. You need to dress properlly to macke your point.
    3. Talking slowly helps you to seem like you know what your doing, therefore you can make point a lot esier.
    4. Its all about your adience understanding you.
    5. If your in front of lots of people, then just imagine its 1 person, like your gran

5 Things that I have learnt from todays session with Alan Stevens are:
    1. The clothes that you were when you are speaking in front of an audience is really important.
    2. Pointing at people can be seen rude so you can express with open hand movements.
    3. I asked Alan that do you forget everything around you and he said that he does take notice of everything around him.
4.Alan has been to 64 countries to speak-well that’s what his daughter said.
    5. You have to speak loud and clearin front of a camera.
That is what I have learnt from Alan on the coveritlive session

Well, I have learnt 5 things from this cover it live session such as :
    1) That eye contact is easier than hand signals to get the point across to the crowd.
    2) That it does matter what you wear because if you look scruffy people would think you dont care.
    3) To always stay calm and just act yourself.
    4) When getting on stage take a few deep breaths to calm you down.
5)dont talk fast otherwise people wont understand.

I have also learnt that it is not important what you wear.

Another thing i have learnt is that you have to think that the crowd are your relatives or something and ignore them a little, and then you will not freak out that much.

Furthermore being nervous is good and naturral, and if you do something wrong you have to ignore it and carry on.

These are 5 things that I learnt today:
    1. Never point at anybody, because it can be found rude.
    2. Alway’s wear smart clothes, because the audience take things seriously about how you dress.
    3. Body movements are important, especially the hand movement’s.
    4. In front of a audience you have to feel nervous, because you can’t always get it right the first time.
    5. When infront of a camera you have to speak loud and clear for the viewers to hear.
These were some of my answers today!

    I’ve learnt:
    Body language is really important
When you are giving a speech, speak slowly and try not to be nervous as it makes you rush.
Your hand is probably the most important part of your body when using body language, use an open hand.
It is better to rehearse body language rather than writing it on a piece of card.
Wear your best clothes because the audience will look at what you are wearing but make sure you are comfortable in it.

I have learnt some great advice. Here are 5 things I’ve learnt:

    1. Body langauge is really good to help people understand the point.
    2. Facial expressions are important when speaking infront of a crowd.
    3. People look at your shoes first – so wear your best ones!
    4. Speak at an appropiate speed. You speak quicker when your nervous, so try and relax.
    5. Ask your friends what they think of your questions first.

I’ve learnt to use your hands for the main part of your body language.
    Don’t walk and talk.
Don’t point at people they might think it’s rude.
    Where your bets suit.
It’s better to rehearse body language then write it down.
