Our online interactive session with a REAL reporter

Thanks to Bill Lord, we have managed to arrange a REAL reporter to visit us remotely through our blog from Mansfield. Anyone is welcome to view the lesson but only the reporter will be allowed access. This lesson willl begin at 11am and will be a chance for our Year 6 pupils to question the reporter on all things journalistic. As a result, our pupils will be able to produce a fantastic newspaper account of the story about Jambo the Gorilla, the video of which can be viewed here:

The ‘Live’ lesson will be viewable in this window below but for safeguarding reasons only the pupils and our reporter will be allowed to post. All other posts will be blocked, however, if you are visiting and want to comment, please use the traditional method by clicking comment at the bottom of the post.

I was not able to join you live but I did keep up with some of it through twitter. Are you going to post your views of it?

I’m really sorry I couldn’t join this lesson live because I was singing with our KS1 choir in a shopping centre! However, I’ve just read through it and I am so very impressed with the questions you all put to James Hoy. Fern, your questions about being forced to write something you don’t want to and playing with the truth are SO impressive. It shows that you have really thought about what it means to be a reporter and some of the dilemmas they might face in their line of work. I’m beyond impressed!

Sounds like you are all having loads of fun. I am struggling to follow as I am supposed to be supporting some teachers in Kent using tech to help with literacy. If we had web access I would have got them all involved. Keep up the good work!

I’m really enjoying watching your class discussion with the reporter! What a great idea. I really look forward to seeing your finished articles which I hope you’ll share via the blog?
